Professor David Schultz is a professor in the Hamline University School of Business where he teaches doctoral and masters-level students in public, non-profit, and business administration. David teaches classes including professional ethics, legislative process, research methods, housing and economic policy, and public policy. Professor Schultz also holds appointments in the Hamline University Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science, and at the University of Minnesota law school where he teaches election law, state constitutional law, and professional responsibility (legal ethics). He also is a senior fellow at the Institute of Law and Politics at the University of Minnesota Law School.

Professor Schultz has a Ph.D. in political science and a J.D. (law degree) from the University of Minnesota, an LLM from the University of London, M.A.s in political science and philosophy from Rutgers University and SUNY Binghamton respectively, a Masters of Astronomy from James Cook University (history of astronomy) and a B.A. in political science and philosophy from SUNY Binghamton. Previously he has taught classes in American politics, political participation, campaigns and elections, urban politics, state and local government, and constitutional law, and at the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, Trinity University (San Antonio, Texas), and Gustavus Adolphus College. He has also taught at the University of St. Thomas and Hamline University law schools.

Professor Schultz is the author of over 20 books, 12 legal treatises, and over 50 articles on topics ranging from civil service reform, campaign finance reform, eminent domain law, constitutional law, and the media and politics. His most recent publications include The Encyclopedia of Civil Liberties (M.E. Sharpe, 2005), the Encyclopedia of the Supreme Court (Facts on File, Inc., 2005), and Lights, Camera, Campaign! Media, Politics, and Political Advertising (Peter Lang, 2004).
